So you're saying Obamacare doubled interest rates from student loans but also say nobody knows the connection... So you're just guessing then huh? Basing this on nothing eh?

I totally agree. He should be more like FDR, who said public sector employees should never be allowed to unionize. Smart man.

Nobody's blaming Obama for the crash. We're blaming him for prolonging the recession with anti-business rhetoric and policies. He's a radical leftist ideologue who's injecting mass uncertainty into the economy.

Ethereal is all words. He does not have a single point whenever he talks other than red-herrings and annoying rhetoric. I would love to challenge him in an intellectual economic debate about what is going on right now and why... but he would refuse because he would be exposed for the fraud he is.

Obama has been a historic failure. His ideology is a demonstrable, observable failure. His supporters are having a hard time accepting this. It's really quite pathetic.

More words... still no substance!! Amazing that someone who talks this much can't ever learn.

We can thank Obama’s inattention to the debt crisis for these latest salvos against our 401 (k) savings plans! If the carnage continues to occur on Wall Street, no one will have any money left to spend and invest and help the economy to grow and put unemployed Americans back to work!

well, yeah, i went with "i know you are but what am I" because you went with "cons are made of sugar and spice, libs of snails and puppydog tails." your generalizations are silly. conservatives deal in counterfactuals all the time when their policies fail. when 911 happened, the conservatives bent over backward to blame it on clinton. when katrina happened, they bent over backward to say their failed response was the best we could possibly expect. when the economy collapsed and they bailed out the banks, they said yes, things are bad but they would have been worse without the bailout. in no way does your black-and-white worldview ever rise to the level of an "argument," but it's good for poking a little fun at.

You mean 9 months into Bush's presidency, he didn't take care of the far off terrorist while dealing with a declining economy? What was Clinton busy with that he couldn't call in the strike to take out a vindictive terrorist that had already attacked us 3 times under Clinton's watch? Oh yeah, he was being impeached.

Bush didn't want to step on the governors toes. Apparently Nagain (sp) just wanted to water down his "Chocolate city" (his words, not mine).

That was the Democrats saying that.

I will agree that GOP does do some hindsight remarks, no statement is an absolute.

I was expecting a thread for apologizing TO President Obama for putting him in this position which seems to have aged him twenty years.

    That would make more sense.

Now apologize ... for Mr. "Ownership Society" Bush and the Republicans ... for empowering and sitting on their ass while the housing market speculative bubble exploded on their watch ... a colossus of incompetence and stupidity.

Why would someone know something that is not a fact?

    Another false claim.

    Year - Debt:GDP
    1992 64.1%
    1993 66.2%
    1994 66.2%
    1995 67.1%
    1996 66.7%
    1997 65.0%
    1998 62.8%
    1999 60.5%
    2000 57.0%

    Source data: BEA.gov, http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/

Only a hyper partisan ignorant of the facts -- or an outright liar -- could claim that the Debt:GDP *grew* under Clinton.

This is what it looks like when the Debt:GDP ratio grows:

    1981 32.9%
    1982 36.8%
    1983 39.9%
    1984 42.3%
    1985 46.1%
    1986 47.6%
    1987 49.6%
    1988 51.0%
    1989 52.1%
    1990 55.7%
    1991 61.2%
    1992 64.1%

    and this:

    2001 56.5%
    2002 58.5%
    2003 60.9%
    2004 62.2%
    2005 62.8%
    2006 63.5%
    2007 64.0%
    2008 69.4%
    2009 83.5%

    Year - Revenues
    1998 1721.8
    1999 1827.5
    2000 2025.2

"drop off in revenue in 2000" ???

Where do you guys get such nonsense? Do you just make it up or are you fed it from right wing propaganda sources?

When Obama took office, the economy was tanking at a -7% real rate, losing 700,000+ jobs a month, unemployment was skyrocketing, and the stock markets were crashing in the worst recession in 80 years. The housing market was destroyed and will take year to recover.

But now the economy has been growing steadily for a year and a half, the private sector has created jobs every month for more than a year, stock markets are up about 70%, and the unemployment rate has fallen from above 10% to just above 9%, and 5 million private sector jobs have been added since Jan 2010.

Only someone invested in failure for political purposes could argue that Obama has been a "historic failure".

    It's really quite pathetic.

"when the economy collapsed and they bailed out the banks, they said yes,"

FACT: Both houses of Congress had Democrat majorities when TARP was passed. In the House of Representatives, ALL Republicans and 9 Democrats did NOT vote for TARP. In the Senate, only 3 Republicans voted for it. One of them was Specter who shortly thereafter changed to the Democrat Party.

So TARP and the Stimulus were both highly partisan bills. Both passed by Democrats with few or NO Republicans going along.

According to the Sec. of the Treasury, Geithner, on July 13, 2011, he said that ALL the TARP money have been repaid except for $50 billion which was deemed uncollectable. So that makes TARP look OK. But one stipulation of the TARP bill was that ALL monies repaid MUST be used to pay down the National Debt. WHERE is that TARP money? Not a cent has been applied to the National Debt.

Here's another part of odrama's Stimulus Bill. which was passed by a Democrat controlled Congress in a partisan vote.

Feds Spent $800,000 of Economic Stimulus on African Genital-Washing Program
    Monday, September 13, 2010

Add this to the failed Stimulus program.

Did this program succeed of fail? Do African men now scrub their nuts or not? You do the research, I don't care! If the instructions tell them to wash their wangs fast enough and long enough, It will be a Stimulus event.
