What Republicans here seem to forget is that he wasn't speaking to them. He was speaking to the floating voter and with his suggestion that the public write to their Congressman/woman to pass the bill, something may come of it in the next couple of weeks.

None of those schmucks on both sides of the house want to lose the jobs they have so far held while treating their constituents as morons.

Mitch McConnell no stanger to well articulated reason, said it best.
" The problem here isn't Politics, the problem is the Policy. It's time
the President starts thinking less about how to describe his policies
differently and more time devising new Policy."

with a precursor " The definiton of insanity Albert Einstein once famously
put it - is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different
    result. "

Obama address tonight was just that.A basic outline of his previous
" Stimulus " { was told by Pelosi to not use that word } but with
a different tone of describing.Plus instead of " Urgent " as with his plea
of a Stimulus Bill { later named Recovery Act } it's now " Pass Right Away"

Like you, I thought it was a masterfull speech; he put his cards on the table and let Amercians know where he wants to direct the country and that they don't have 14 months to do it; rather get it done now.

    Bravo Mr. President!

    Relax,
The GOP can say "Ok,you want $400 billion, fine, but we are going to add significant cuts to it." and send it to Reids Senate.
Its out of the House's hands .
All spending bills begin in the House and they can add whatever they want to the Jobs Act Bill, including cuts.If Reid shelves it,The GOP can then turn it on the Dems. You know (*)(*)(*)(*) well the GOP will not give Zer0 a $400 billion credit card without any cuts elsewhere. Then ,it will be Zer0 and Reid that will have to cave.Zer0s knees will once again weaken.
    Neat,huh?

Apparently not. We still have a country full of crappy roads and broken down schools.

Quite likely. That man is enough to terrorise anyone, when he isn't crying.

You still think this is about partisanship?

Let's see which republicans step up to the plate and do the right thing for America and which seethe and which behave like Biddie hens.

Obama captured the American public tonight and if you don't see that, you lose.

Here is critical thinking. Obama wants to do more of what has given us a 414,000 new jobless claim, 9.1% unemployment for over 2 years, a job creation rate of 0% and a GDP under 1.5% not even enough to stay even. So why would you want to do more of the same?

So what is the compromise when the other offering is such folly?

PLEASE, like I am going to hit that play button??? I am so sick of hearing that bull(*)(*)(*)(*) coming out of that mans mouth! He lies more than any political person in history.
Besides that has nothing to do with what I just said. "GE hasn't PAID TAX !!!" The OIL COMPANIES are paying out their ASSES"

GE has been backing Barry, GE doesn't pay taxes....see what is going on here? Oil companies employ people, makes oil, and all kinds of good stuff for America, but Barry has the rigs stop pumping.
    See what I mean here?

BARRY is the man of the hour. McCain and Palin are irrelevant.
Barry was going to bring the troops home in 16 months...they're still there. He now owns Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.

I know your Partisan blinders make you and your ilk look only one way Mike. But he called out EVERYONE in Congress on this one buddy. NOT just the Republicants. If he backs his talk up with a bill that has everything he mentioned in his speech, and the GOP refuses to pass ANY of it simply to make sure Obama fails.........the GOP will be in trouble. The only ground the Republicants have on him is offsetting costs to pay for it. But if the GOP don't even try to work with the POTUS on this, they will be finished.

Libs. The American public already judges Stimulus as a fail. That means more Stimulus is DOA.

Time for Hillary to resign, and then announce herself as a candidate. Time for Obama to just plain quit. The king has no clothes ... AND he's a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing hack idiot.

Nobody likes to be hustled. "You should pass this now." Sounds very much like what people hear from a car salesman. Urgency. Car salesmen are taught that if you leave the dealership to "think about it" their chances of selling a car to you has just dropped dramatically.

And why shouldn't people be skeptical? Every promise he's made he broke. He's a pathological liar. People are just finally waking up.

BTW, yes his speech sounded like a push for another stimulus bill.

    Exactly.

Nowhere have I suggested that Obama won his reelection, or is some kind of great President.

I'm merely trying to smarten up a few of Conservatives around here who arrogantly dismiss Obama as if what he does or says is completely irrelevant and be merely brushed off.

That is not the case here tonight, and the merely brush Obama off as if he didn't do something tonight is the HEIGHT of political stupidity.

Admit that he won, and look for ways to minimize his victory, but to deny victory is pretty (*)(*)(*)(*) partisan and dumb.

Silicon is always on the wrong side of the debate, and here he is, self-proclaimed Republican, the first poster cheering on an Obama SPEECH.

Keynesian economics of any form is a failure and only empowers the central powers of government and the people at the top who receive their handouts. The federal reserve and their money printing and government spending powers got us into this hole, no matter if you blame it on the wars, welfare, corporate handouts.

It's all about the fact that we owe interest on all of this debt created. Have you bought a house, did you not gag over the final amount you will pay for that house? Then, apply that to our national (or should i say global, yes) bailout vipers printing money economy.

"there were no shovel-ready jobs, snicker, snicker. I gave it all to Goldman Sachs, the 2nd largest contributor to my campaign outside of California-Berkeley and then Harvard"

Which will be opposing this garbage which has already proven not to work or is just pie in the sky nonsense.

Obama bored us to death with his insufferable inane rhetoric. We don't need sophomoric pep talks or silly lectures of things we already know. We need him to drop his ideology, do everything to make it easier for business to expand and have the confidence to do so.

That was NOT in this speech.

The speech reminded me of the "Hurry up and pass the stimulus bill right now or else the Unemployment will go above 8%," bs. Very similar.

Only this one was, "Pass this right now--I'll let you know later what was in it."

    Obama is a real comedian.

Do you think Obama woke up as Abraham Lincoln this morning?

I think he is a very partisan president and this was a re-election speech.

But let's see what he sends in writing.
