Unions served their purpose back in the 1930's, however the things they fought for are now part of labor law and like buggy whip makers, they are obsolete.

If the same rules apply to Unions I'm all for it.

In California the public service unions OWN the legislators. Folks here know it and it's only a matter of time before they rebel and expel the turds in Sacramento.

And they still have a role to play today.

Okay, personally I'll give you that. But if all I see put out there is the two I see so far, I'm SUPPORTING them. I'm not waiting around for something 'perfect', if I can choose something 'better'. As things are NOW, they are absolutely TERRIBLE; it is more than obvious that people's voices are being drowned-out by billions in special interest money. No doubt that corporations rule THAT present game, in both frequency, magnitude and overall influence.

The nation isn't "California". Still, I wouldn't be against you or anyone else promoting the very type of Constitutional law which you suggest. I just want MOST or ALL of that kind of money out of our politics. If we don't do that, we're finished.

We'll, I'm looking to the VOTING POLLS and LAWS which seriously restrict MONEY in campaigns and legislation. We either listen to the PEOPLE primarily or we're toast.

All this talk about how corporations are people and therefore corporations should get their say ignores one simple fact. The people already had their say once as individuals. One man, one vote. NOT one vote, and then another one for every corporation in which I am a stockholder. The same is true for Unions. I realize that we are talking about money, not votes, but the two are virtually interchangeable in elections today.

What role other than to collect dues and funnel them to Democrat candidates?

The Unions donate billions of their members dues.

The liberals are just trying to keep their opponents money out and not the union money. Make it both happen and I'm all in.

As long as they control the voting "a la" SEIU maintaining voting machines in Nevada, your vote will NEVER count.

I'm on the front lines out here in California with the Mexican Reconquista. My country is gone. I have passed from mourning to rage to detachment. I am post-American.

The time to save America came and went. The combined political/economic catastrophe that is overtaken the country is now beyond repair. Obama and his opponent next year aren't fighting to save the country. They're fighting over spoils. Nothing more.

My love for my America knew no bounds. When my version of America died my loyalty to this polity went with it. I am a student of history. Peoples have been in this situation before. I know how this is going to turn out. It always turns out the same way.

Okay Albert; I can tell that nothing I say here will change that cynical view you've interpreted from history.

If America is being transformed (and it likely is), I don't personally believe it is as 'dire' as you are saying/predicting. Even so, we do have more than a few problems. All I can do is what I can, and then hope for the best. I'm definitely not going to freak-out because some things are changing, that I can do nothing about.

All I can think of is what my grandparents and parents endured as African Americans under severe oppression; they did not lose complete faith in America... but they DID work hard to make a living and worked harder to help shape America into the nation it became. I hear people like you, and get the impression you wouldn't have survived what my parents had to... they didn't give up on America they way you're talking here.

Even if you are completely correct in your pessimistic view of things, I think your attitude is self-defeating; doesn't seem like you'd try to make things better in this nation; it appears that you've given up (and in my view should not have. :(

I want as much money OUT of our politics as we can work to accomplish; it has been nothing but poison, and it has affected so many of us (one way or the other). I want that to end up being fair... but anything which pulls most of that money OUT of our elections, will be better than what we have today. We've lost our "voice"... it has been smothered by MONEY. We MUST change that.

"HAVE BEEN" is key in that sentence. Why do you pro-union guys exist? If you think you need a union to pay dues to and speak for you in this century...you haven't been keeping up. Union top dogs spend all your money on (well...whatever the F they want) so that they will be able to pull in a favor when needed and also vote the guy in that said he would do the most for them. They're like the maffia, and they have that mentality as well. I would be extremally embarrassed to be a part of it. All they are is talk...they, must spend a lot of time coming up with the BS to feed their union stooges....because whatever they say, it works....because here you are, people such as yourself. Suckered. And they know this, they rely on it.

UNIONS ARE WAY MORE CORRUPT THAN ANY CORPORATION.

Why do you want to be part of that? I have no doubt that there are many many many good people in the union, I know a few past union and current union guys myself. The past union guys are the best....they tell you everything. And they know now that it's nothing more than a scam.

A shining light must fall over the union....question is who will listen? Will you?

Stop believing all the propaganda you've heard. I can't say that ALL aspects of every union is great, I just know that they are not necessarily bad organizations. They STILL do a lot for workers and keep work-centers in good shape overall.

You may have your opinions about them, but they are NOT as definitively 'horrible' as you tried to make them sound. Yes, they DO still serve a fine purpose. You anti-worker types will say or do anything to put them down... and I'm just NOT going to buy that negative BS.

Again, I think some aspects of some unions might be problematic, but that doesn't mean they are bad organizations.

(Did I mention that we have an Amendment to get passed?)

I have found the right way to make sure our country will not only survive, but also prosper into success. It's literally the only way to do so and I do believe in going in any round about ways of getting it done. I believe in tackling all problems head on and making sure the country comes first for now on.

How about you stop with the "listening to propaganda" excuse? I'm so sick of hearing it. As if...everything said about the tea party and the rich is true, but OWS and Unions? Nahh that's all just propaganda. Noone slings the propaganda quite like the left, and noone has learned to accuse the right of it quite like them either.

Me? Anti-worker? Oh please....more BS. I hire workers...real workers. We have hired union workers in the past. My EXPERIENCE not OPINION of them has been that they are lazy, and ALWAYS complaining about something. They bring morale down, and they do think for some reason that they own the joint.

I'm so sick of people like you making excuses for them...with your..."yes, there are some aspects that are bad BS" Yet, no one stands up to them as a union worker bee. UNIONS are no longer needed....period. We are a manufacturing facility still in the US (one of the few), and I can tell you that with all the restrictions on our business, and all the employees rights...unions are nothing but a money making organization...and is run by a bunch thugs.

Stop thinking you are "telling me something" I have experience with unions, I have seen unions put friends out-of-business....businesses that were flourishing before unions stepped in. You think the union leaders give a (*)(*)(*)(*) if they put companies out-of-business? They don't. I've also witnessed that as well.

Now, I already answered about this crap legislation. And I said unless unions are added to the amendment along wih corporations, then this proves it's nothing more of a progressive grab for power over the GOP. That's the way I see it. You don't agree...no problem. I wouldn't expect you to.

    Sounds good in principle.

Freedom of association means that you cannot keep unions out, neither could you keep out an association of millionaires, the chamber of commerce or the AMA because these are "not for profit" entities.

What is needed is prohibition of the use of shareholders funds for political purposes - and in any corporation, all funds that exceed liabilities belong to the shareholders.

Look, you have your views... but YOU aren't the ONLY person with experiences.

You're anti-union; I'm not. I'm for them, you aren't. Welcome to America. And I'm so sad for you, that you've seen (what you think/believe may be) the DARK side... I haven't. Again, you may HIRE a few people, whatever... but I'm not throwing out something good in my EXPERIENCE, because YOU have some beef or gripes in your past.

We need to get the money OUT of politics, period. That has not so much to do with UNIONS, as the WILL to get it done. Stop going-off on tangents about THAT FACT.

Again, sorry you don't like UNIONS; that is YOUR problem, in my view.

Let's compromise. I'll agree to raising taxes on the lower class so they are no longer exempt if you agree to raise the minimum wage to a living wage. Say, 15 dollars an hour.

That's kind of difficult in a practical sense. At worst, a union can only be as corrupt as a corporation is at best.

I wouldn't have survived what your grandparents and parents endured. I would have killed my closest oppressor and been killed in response. I don't accept the idea of silently enduring the unendurable. I believe in going out like Tecumseh. Resistance until they shoot me out of the saddle.

You are loyal to a dying empire. How do I know it's dying? I've lived for a long time and paid attention to the quality of the people.

Look at the product being produced by the American public school system. Here there is no denying that an inferior product is being produced. The inferiority of the product can be measured against their peers internationally.

The test scores give us an objective measure of the decline of education in America. This has been going on now for two full generations. The reservoir of human capital is drying up.

Politically there was once an area of overlap between left and right. That is no longer the case. Left and right now operate at the extremes. The prior existence of an area of common beliefs permitted some modicum of trust to exist. Without trust nothing is possible in the American political system.

The country has broken up into separate realms. African America and Latino America have separate and discrete identities from White America. Politically Blacks and Latinos are leftists in voting patterns. And Whites are conservatives for the most part. This trend is becoming more pronounced.

My bitterness is part of the grieving process for the land that I loved. It exists now only in memory. And I have absolutely no reason to be loyal to this thing which now presumes to call itself America. I think of it as Amerika as in the novel by Franz Kafka.

My version of America was powerful, capable, competent, and affluent. This thing I call Amerika is increasingly weak and divided, incompetent, uneducated and on the dole. I loved America with all my heart. I have nothing but contempt for this thing called Amerika.

    This is for you Albert.

You can not hate the country that is being led by the idiots that are voted into office every four years. They do nothing but lie and make everyone believe they are going to save us, but in reality, they are their for themselves and themselves alone. They can really care less about the American People, and if they did, they would drop from the U.N, spend more time trying to clean up our country over everyone else's, stop illegal immigration in it's tracks quickly by placing armies on the boarders, rid the nation of all illegals no matter where they are from, and stop importing from foreign lands when we have the manpower as well as the willpower to make the very things we buy from other countries. We can make ourselves right again as long as a strong, dedicated individual will go into office with this type of mentality and turn the country around. Blaming the country for it's leaders mistakes is like blaming any army in the world that lost a battle due to a leaders error.

If it's a crime for me and some friends to go in together to put up a billboard to support or oppose a candidate, then yes, it's exactly about the bill of rights.

Poor Bill of Rights. So few friends nowadays, but so many enemies...

That's a highly ignorant point of view seeing as unions have far more access to the levers of government than any corporation. In some states, the unions even have the government collecting fees for them.

It will be nice. Greenpeace and the Sierra Club will no longer be allowed to do political ads..... Moveon.org will have to cease and desist as well.

The unintended consequences of that amendment would be enormous.

This "amendment" isn't even worthy on toilet paper, unless it increases absorbancy, but my take is that it would be to pre-soil the toilet paper, not improve it.

The last gasp of the current uber-lib socialist Obama cluster(*)(*)(*)(*) is to try to demonize Wall Street, and corporations, as "blame Bush" was becoming tenuous. After all, things are going to be such a magnificent disaster by November 2012, the dumb bastard liberals had to do something ? They weren't about to say "yeah, we suck bad" were they ?

So we see this further absolute nonsense in threads such as this. Our very own versions of OWS trash.

Conservatives, the Tea Party, and Capitalism are going to push back harder in 2012 than ever before. With uber-prejudice libs.

    Free-stuff is over.

This shows a distinct ignorance about the Citizens United Case. I would read up on it if I were you. It was pretty cut and dry.

McCain Feingold was twisted in an unconstitutional manner by Democrats in order to halt the showing of commercials of a movie about Hillary 30 days out from the Primary elections.

They tried to silence conservative free speech in an illegal manner by twisting the law and that is why the USSC tossed it out, because of the potential for abuse that was blatantly shown in Citizens United.

See? Democrats tried to squash legitimate free speech by abusing the law in an unconstitutional manner which forced the USSC to act. The "Corporations are People too" argument is collateral damage.

Well, let's THINK more carefully... and insure that CORPORATE MONEY isn't ever again used to corrupt and pervert our political system. Right now, we are just one giant CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

Obama is raising a billion dollars for his reelection campaign. He opted out of the federal spending limits last time around (the first and only guy to do so), and he will again. Obama is Mr. Wall Street. Doesn't any one see the discrepancy between his words and deeds?
