Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate who could defeat Obama in a general election.

But hopefully he will run indy/3rd party rather than stick with that sinking GOP ship.

He does better than any other candidate beside Romney against Obama and, unlike Romney, would win independents and destroy Obama's left-wing base. Anyone who doesn't see this is still locked into some left/right construction, locating Paul on the far right, when the real divide is between the establishment and anti-establishment. The whole spectrum would turn over were Paul to get the nomination. States like California might be in play, from a combination of all the right-wingers in the rural regions and antiwar leftists waking up to what a sham Obama is.

Boosting him in the polls?! The media spent two weeks attacking Ron Paul before Iowa and boosting Santorum! He got all the support he did because fewer and fewer people are giving a crap about what politicians, media bobbleheads, and other worshipers of status quo claim is "mainstream."

Most of the people who benefit from the power structure as it stands.

That's because that's a big, fat falsehood designed to justify stealing trillions from taxpayers and giving it to special interests.

"Regulation" by bought and paid for bureaucrats appointed by a bought and paid for president...LOL..."Oh, please don't throw me into that brier patch!"

While America falls to rubble, you're interested in an artificial party duopoly constructed as a means to entrench the elite in power. Ron Paul, of course, has been running against both wings of the duopoly and has been for years.

Lol, no one is afraid of running against Ron Paul. People are afraid that there are too many Ron Paul supporters who support his ideas that would destroy this nation. If anything Obama would welcome the chance to go against someone that 75% of the country is terrified of. Even Republican's would jump ship and not vote or write in a 3rd party.

I know this forum is rampant with Ron Paul fans, but in reality Ron Paul scares most normal people.

That sounds more like wishful thinking on your part than reality. 75% of the MEDIA TALKING HEADS may be terrified of Ron Paul, but most peoples' minds aren't quite that sealed off. In fact, the only reason he hasn't run away with it altogether is because of the media-drive perception he's unelectable. Note the entrance polls suggest he had half the Iowa youth (18-29) vote. Your ideas are old and dying, while Ron Paul's ideas are ever more attractive to the young.

Actually, no, the poll numbers say otherwise. It's the "Bomb Iran" wackos who really scare the American people.

The political Idiot Ron Paul has been in Congress for TWENTY THREE YEARS and advanced ~ 640 legislations....ONLY ONE of the 640 passed !!!

You want this Political Idiot to be a NOMINEE ?!?!?

Actually, this political Idiot Ron Paul's chances of being a nominee is even less than a dog's fart in a hurricane.

I am making this post just to show how F-ing ( F for Fig) IDIOTIC the followers of this Political Idiot Ron Paul are.

These political Idiots following Ron Paul STILL don't get the fact that the Islamist Swine, and the OwebamaCAPSTERS are coming out in force, even on this Forum, supporting the Islamist Swine ass-kissing fool.......BECAUSE RON PAUL IS ONE OF THEIR "SECRET" WEAPONS !!!

    Yup, pretty much.

No one is scared of Ron Paul, Paul is not some dangerous magic bullet of sorts, his policies are simply insane.

The funniest thing is his supporters actually think people are afraid of them. They live in such a little bubble outside of reality that is very amusing. I don't get how they do not see that most of the country thinks Ron Paul is a joke.

Hit would not have to run on anything. He would only have to say do you really want Ron Paul and unless the morons are really in full bloom Obama would not have to worry.

The least funny thing is why you're not afraid of the policies of his competitors.

I don't think Obama is taking Paul seriously at all. I think he's anticipating facing Romney next cycle.

As to the discussion over who would win if it were Obama vs. Paul?

I think Paul would obviously destroy Obama in the debates. As for the general election; I think this really depends on how the media spins things. I have a feeling CNN would really keep the whole newsletter controversy going. They would probably portray Ron Paul as a old white racist Republican which they are doing a good job on right now.

You people really must have your heads buried way far up ____ ______ to not see that Ron Paul has already got the unwavering support of hundreds of thousands if not millions of politically active Americans and even people abroad, and many more sympathize with him, not because they don't know what he stands for but because they do knowexactly what he stands for. One day, you folks who clearly have not had an unconventional thought in your lives, are going to realize you have neither the power nor the authority to define "the mainstream" around whatever little square of ideological dogmata you prefer.

My father is an intelligent but relatively conventional New York liberal. My mother a pro-choicer who otherwise knows nothing about politics but what she hears from others. Both are Democrats who voted for Clinton and Obama. Yet my father has said several times how disappointed he is with Obama, the continued war spending, and NDAA, and how he respects Ron Paul as a principled person who really wants to end the wars (again!), even he doesn't agree with him on everything. My mother doesn't know anything about Ron Paul except that I support him, but she knows she hates the wars and has just been scared by social networking talk about how SOPA could lead to censorship of the Internet.

Given an Obama versus Paul race, I think it is quite possible, though hardly certain, I could get even these two vote for Paul over Obama. What do you think they'd care about most, educated about his views? Stopping radical, insane, kooky, whackjob extremism of the wars and the police state or maintaining the Department of Presents to a Special Interest? Which do you prefer? Anyone with eyes to see knows who the real kooks are here.

They think that just because people on the internet like him that everyone else does.

    They don't.

The people are afraid of his foreign policy and some of his social stances.

I would say a large portion of Iowa likes him - especially the younger people and the independents. You don't come in a close 3rd without some support.

What, people on the Internet aren't people? Who do you think you are? And of the people on and the people off the Internet, which ones do you think have one foot in the grave?

You've made a lot of completely empty comments hating on Paul, but no one knows your proffered alternative. Judging by the threads you post, your top political priority appears to be that religious people are funny, I see you see yourself as a member of the "Occupy Movement." Are they planning to vote for a candidate who supports killing hundreds of thousands of innocents in politically motivated wars and caging hundreds of thousands for owning bits of plant matter?

The Political Idiot Ron Paul would be destroyed by a retarded lobotimized paramecium.

While the Political Charlatan OwebamaCRAPSTER is a Monumental Mendacious Fraud ......he isn't a patsy in a debate.

"Obama has no chance to beat Ron Paul IMO" ......you should consider beaming back to la la Land.

The OwebamaCRAPSTER is a Monumental Mendacious Fraud .......but he isn't a slouch in a debate.

But, that is irrelevant: (1) The Political Idiot Ron Paul will never be someone the semi-black Political Charlatan will face. And, (2) The Obummer would turn him into a hamburger if he did......but then any mentally deficient baboon would easily expose the Political Idiot Ron Paul for being a Loony Bird.
