You guys are going to love this. Colorado State has compiled a list of politically incorrect and racist words that should be avoided. Among them are birth defect, cake walk, Eenie meenie miney moe, Eskimo, Freshman, Ghetto, Handicap parking, Hip hip hooray, Hispanic, and the list goes on. Even the word homosexual is to be avoided.

So who is the person who decides what is offensive and what isn't? We all know this is about feelings and most of the people these words supposedly offend probably don't even know they're supposed to be offended by them, so they need to be taught to be offended or else these offensive words won't offend anyone.

What does it feel like to be offended? Does the world end? Do people crawl up into a ball and cry? What happens? Really, what happens? That's right, nothing.

You can check out the list of taboo words here: https://collegian.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Inclusive-Language-Guide_10_30_18.pdf

I can kind of see their reasoning:

The Americas encompass a lot more than the United States. There is South America, Central America, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean just to name a few of 42 countries in total. That's why the word "americano" in Spanish can refer to anything on the American continent. Yet, when we talk about "Americans" in the United States, we're usually just referring to people from the United States. This erases other cultures and depicts the United States as the dominant American country.

It's a little condescending to reserve "American" for ourselves, when there are other countries that can also legitimately use that term to refer to themselves.

We've seen a lot of politically correct crap, but have we ever seen anything as sad and stupid as listing "America" and "American" as evil words to be shunned?

    Liberalism is a disease.

Like it or not, "American" means a citizen of the U.S. Period.

We're not changing that definition like we did with "marriage".

Probably something to do with patriarchy, but it's Berkeley, they've always been weird. Why does this push your buttons?

Well, it's a cult. Same thing, I guess.

BUT, it's not liberalism, it's Progressivism. Liberals are way cooler.

I didn't have the problem you experienced, not a single pop up or who knows what else. But here is a link to some of the most absurd things you're expect to see on a college campus, it's the Colorado State site. https://thecollaborative.colostate.edu/resources/

Your bar for "insanity" is awfully low. When everything is "insane", nothing is.

Well, on one hand we're talking about some state college, and on the other hand we have the President of the U.S.

You think there might be a difference between the two? Maybe just a little?

You think a normal rational person finds the term manhole offensive? Seriously. Answer honestly:) If American is offensive to you, it’s truly a mental issue.

Much of the Spanish language is masculine or feminine, I wonder how Berkeley will chop that up, or will that be racist?
