Here is a poll that liberals will find hard to explain

Everyone knows that liberals love polls, even if they helped in Hillary losing the last election.

A recent poll shows that 47% of liberals say that any friend that voted for Trump is no longer their friend. OTOH only 12% of conservatives say the same about friends that voted for Hillary. This would seem to add fuel to the fire that liberalism causes some sort of psychological problems with people that say they are liberals.

Would libs on this forum like to try to explain this?

Note as in this poll it talked about liberals, not democrats. I continue to say there is a huge dfference between liberals and democrats. Democrats are the loyal opposition, liberals are way out of step with American values.

Obsessing over what their "liberals" supposedly think is what some do, obviously, but undocumented polls that inexplicably divide the populace into the aforementioned "liberals" (many of whom did not vote for Clinton) and "conservatives" (many of whom did not vote for Trump) is a particularly silly way to prop up a simplistic ideological preconception. (Not to mention those who voted for Trump, and now align with the majority of Americans that assign him record-low approval and record-high disapproval numbers.)

If one begins with a self-serving premise such as "conservatives are way out of step with American values," and then seeks to prop up such a notion, it may afford self-satisfaction, but not validation.

Nice attempt at deflection, but no explaination on your part to explain the poll. Why are liberals so psychotic about Trump that they will no longer be friends with a friend that voted for Trump?????????????

Do you have friends who voted for Trump?

Would you unfriend anybody who did?

I do not ask anyone how they voted and, while I could guess that most folks that I know, respect, and consider friends, would never have voted for the pudenda-grabbing shlock tv personality that mocks the handicapped, I would discretely avoid broaching the topic with anyone who might have done such a thing.

What poll are we discussing? How did it identify its "liberals"?

If you need to guess that, I'd guess that you need to guess it's a valid poll.

Asking someone how she voted would insult some, embarrass others, and provoke some to lie.

What purpose would be served by such an unnecessary personal incitement?

Another one of those instances where you tell me what I believe and then expect me to defend your opinion of what I believe. Here are the problems with your argument:
    1. Everyone doesn't know liberals love polls that is your assumption.
    2. You cite no proof that liberals causes some sort of psychological problem. That is your erroneous assumption.
    3. You are stereotyping both liberals and conservatives
    4. You ask if "libs" would like to try to explain this showing that you have an implied prejudice that this can not be done.
    5. Your prejudice is also shown by linking liberalism with illness, and stating that liberals are out of step with American values.

Would you like to explain the prejudices in your stated position? Could you provide evidence supporting these prejudices?

I notice that your reply to my challenge is that I have a mental problem, again an assumption on your part. I have accepted the results of the election I am not fixated on Hillary, even though you appear to be.

Again, Would you like to explain the prejudices in your stated position? Could you provide evidence supporting these prejudices?

What do you think polls are *for*? They are useful in stereotyping broad swathes of the populace! Of course the pollsters don't call it stereotyping but that *is* what it is.

And liberals *do* have a problem with reality. Look at the economic policies of the Marxist Democrats - a group about as liberal as you can get. "Higher taxes lead to prosperity" "Redistribution of wealth leads to prosperity" "Central planning of the economy by the federal government will lead to prosperity" "Nationalizing health care will lead to prosperity"

Perfect proof that liberals have some sort of psychological problem. They have some sort of learning disability -- which prevents them from learning the lessons of history.

Liberals *are* out of step with American values. That's why they have lost over 1000 local, state, and national elective offices over the past eight years. It's why they control less than a third of all state legislative bodies and have only a minority of governorships.

So ... better to avoid than try to understand? Ironic, that sounds somewhat Trumpish to me.

Here is my take on the "attitudes" described in this poll:

Liberals = "You helped facilitate the election of the most EGREGIOUSLY UNPREPARED IMBECILE in American History"

Cons = "What me worry? We got a Kneejerk Con on the SCOTUS".

You are free to interrogate your intimates concerning their hygienic proclivities if you are of the opinion that such awareness might afford you better understanding, but discretion also has its merits.

Political penchants are not particularly conducive to holistic revelations, imho.

Not quite. The poll doesn't say exactly what you told us Fox told you (which should come as no surprise to anyone).

None the less, the poll does seem to suggest that the level of stress from Trump opponants talking to Trump supporters is higher, but the indications the other way around are very high as well.

Speaking for myself, I made a point of not unfriending any of the many friends and the few elected officials I have that support Trump. Nor do I put people on ignore here.

Again very heavy on your opinion and name calling with little factual support. The mistake you are making is that your opinion must be accepted because it is your opinion.
Here's some help: a fact is something that has been proven to be true an opinion is some thing you feel or believe.
