The wife and I are getting ready to visit our daughter in Hawai’i. Vaccine cards are necessary for airline travel and we can’t find our cards. We put them in a perfect place where we would know exactly where they are.....and now, of course, can’t remember where that is.
No, I think there is a lot of pushback developing which will become more widespread. I’m just relating a minor humorous issue involved with my advancing years.
Keep it light, please. There are enough places to pee in people's cheerios you don't need to do it here.
I would like to ask something about this if I may. What is it like to live in a different 'country' to your daughter? Do you find it difficult? And what prompted you to do so? Do you have other children where you are?
Our records in our patient portal We have with our dr. We have the cards in our wallets, and a picture of them on our phones
Actually, we live in the same country. We in New York State and our daughter in Hawai'i. But, we're flying Southwest and I think they still require us to show our original vaccine cards both here and in Hawai'i. I hope I'm wrong. We do, however, have the digital New York State Excelsior vaccine pass and maybe that will be enough.
Such requirements are banned in Texas. I'm so glad we have a governor with cajones. We didn't have to go through any of that on a cruise we took from Houston.
New York is a very, very, very blue state. I'm probably one of six or seven conservatives in the state. Love the state and the people, but hate the politics.
Every time I find the perfect place to put some important thing...I know I'm in trouble before I leave it. I hope you find them.
Thank you for that. I suspected as much! It's not common to find parents willingly living at great remove from their adult children.
That's why I put 'country' in quotes. It's geographically a different country, though officially the same. Either way, it's not your local neighbourhood
I was born and raised in New York (born in the Bronx). After bouncing around from California to Missouri to Massachusetts to Germany (10 years total)... and from Iraq to Israel and so much more, I am finally retired with SUPERWIFE in Texas. My Cornell graduate son is a lawyer in New York City. I have no desire to ever return to liberal New York, although I will for my West Point 50th Reunion in 2025. Meanwhile I'll stay happy in Texas where we have no China Virus restrictions... our schools are open along with our beaches, restaurants, stores and all the rest. We also have "Constitutional Carry" here which means I am free to have fun with my gun hobby. The only BLM/Antifa activity we see is on the TV as we sip a nice Merlot in the jacuzzi.
Yes. We live 3,000 miles from the West Coast, and another 3,000 mile from there over the Pacific to Hawai'i. It takes us two days broken up by an overnight in California to make the trip.
I like Texas, and I'm glad you're there for your retirement and are happy there. Actually, I exaggerated a bit. I live in Upstate New York where most of us outside the urban areas are conservatives. I lived in Connecticut for 35 years, but am glad to be back in New York where I was born and raised, not far from Cornell actually. My family history here goes back to the mid 1700s.
Our daughter in Hawai'i is also married with two young kids. We try to spend a good amount of time with each family every year.
