I wonder if they are taking odds in Vegas on Weisselberg flipping on Trump? Ya think? I'll bet when when Weisselberg realize they are going to indict, he'll flip, no man, especially one his age, wants to go to prison. But, then, again, we don't even know for certain that they have anything on him that they can indict, but a lot of folks are sure saying it. Michael Cohen really thinks so, and he was pretty close to the action, and has personally testified to Trump's committing bank fraud, tax evasion, among other things, to which Weisselberg must be complicit on, as the CFO of the Trump organization. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/15/nyregion/trump-weisselberg-vance-investigation.html The Manhattan district attorney’s office appears to have entered the final stages of a criminal tax investigation into Donald J. Trump’s long-serving chief financial officer, Allen H. Weisselberg, setting up the possibility he could face charges this summer, according to people with knowledge of the matter. In recent weeks, a grand jury has been hearing evidence about Mr. Weisselberg, who is facing intense scrutiny from prosecutors as they seek his cooperation with a broader investigation into Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization, the people with knowledge of the matter said. The prosecutors have obtained Mr. Weisselberg’s personal tax returns, the people said, providing the fullest picture yet of his finances. And no commentary on Weisselberg would be complete without Michael Cohen's take on it: I know all the righties just love to hear from him.
It likely depends on the seriousness of the charges and whether Weisselberg thinks he can beat the rap. Clearly he is the keystone to unraveling Don's criminal enterprise. They may need his testimony to prove what Trump knew so Don can't hide behind the assertion laws were broken without his knowledge.
The organization has been able to evade criminal penalties by paying fines for their malfeasance: fraud, money laundering. Where there’s smoke but our system either isn’t set up for or lacks the will to prosecute these types of criminals. I’m at “hope for the best expect the worst” but this ilk usually escapes accountability. Wisselberg understands this.
I imagine, in his heart of hearts, Trump wishes he'd stuck with buying politicians rather than trying to become one.
