The problem is if an investigation is carried out, I doubt that the final verdict will actually do anything. Israel has a tendency of delaying these trials until people forget about it. Among other things, Israel is still refusing to repay the EU for all the EU built stuff they have blown up during this intifada.
In this particular case, I think they need to make the punishment high profile. Unfortunately, you're probably right.
