MIX IT UP: Forget the Corsage

Oct. 21, 2004 -- High school senior Adam Gauzza has attended eight proms, but never with the date he desires. Prejudice and taboo have made that a risk he is not ready to take.

Leaving Hate's Stage

Oct. 28, 2004 -- All high school sophomore Lyle Qualls wants is to be himself without becoming the target of others' hate. He wishes it were that simple.

One, Tolerance.org and Oregon State University's Difference, Power, and Discrimination Program are NOT the same organization. Writing for Change, a teaching resource of OSU's DPD program, is merely published on the Tolerance.org site in their section devoted to a multitude of teacher resources. So referencing other sections of Tolerance.org that are devoted to resources for a wide range of ages and diversity topics is irrelevant. They have nothing to do with Writing for Change.

Two, we were discussing resources that sam erroneously claimed were intended for elementary school age children. Sexual identity issues and resources intended for highschool age teens is a whole other discussion.

Please. I urge everyone to visit the link Sinanju posted. It is an age-appropriate kids site devoted to promoting and understanding tolerance and diversity issues. It's called Planet Tolerance, and has stories and activities related to things like women's sufferage, the civil rights movement, child labor, religious diversity and multicultural understanding.

I didn't see any mention of homosexuality. I certainly didn't notice any pictures of Spongebob cavorting with lesbians.

I asserted that Writing for Change was college-level curriculum, not elementary school curriculum (for 4-10 year old children).

You challenged me to back my assertion up with a link.

I did so.

Exactly what point of yours do you think I "proved"?
