You are right, it may not have been intentional for many of the staff, especially Bush. They saw what they wanted to see, and a lot of their actions were based on subconcious motivations. That happens a lot with super powerful people for some reason, I mean, Hitler actually believed he was Jesus reincarnated or something close to that, and that he was meant to bring about the millenium. He also thought he could take on the entire world, like many Americans on this board seem to think. I'm all about spreading Democracy, but maybe the best way to do that is to lead by example. Hm....just a thought.
And for any who believe we are spreading Freedom with Democracy, that is not necessarily true. Democracy is simply majority rule, it has nothing to do with freedom whatsoever. If you gave Democracy to a slave who desires their slavery, they will simply vote in their slavery. I know of phsyical slaves who are more free then some people who have the ability to vote. Freedom is a state of mind, it has nothing to do with government. In many ways, Americans are less free then many others. We simply believe in material desires that are neverending. A muslim in Iraq would argue we are the slaves from their point of view. Kinda ironic, no?
