Default Personal opinions on organ donation aside...

Whaddarya, kidding me?! Whether or not you agree with the actions of the parents does not soften their sorrow or ease their pain. It's sad when a "grown-up" dies; it's devastating when a child does, which I believe was the original point of the thread.

BTW, Mouse, you might want to check out this website from the federal government; it may clear up some of the misconceptions you have about organ donation...

From the site:

Myth: Donation will disfigure my body.

Fact
: Organs and tissues are removed in procedures similar to surgery, and all incisions are closed at the conclusion of the surgery. An open casket funeral is possible after donation.

IN MY OPINION, for the parents to make the difficult decision to save the lives of up to 25 other people in a matter of minutes after such a traumatic loss is worthy of the commendations that they have received from nearly everyone on this thread. I too believe there is a special place in heaven for people who do selfless things such as this, just as I believe there is a special place in hell for those who do evil and justify it in the name of God... again this is just my opinion, so Mouse, please don't jump all over my arse the way you did my intelligent and SOOOO-not "20 stone" sister's...

Thanks.
