As far as "all men are created equal", I'd remind you that that quotation came not from the Constitution, but rather the Declaration of Independence. It has no bearing on the discussion. Also, we know that as a founding principle it really didn't mean "all men are equal", it meant all "white, rich, protestant, land-owning, MEN" were equal.
Also, I assure you, ammending the constitution to say that gay-marriages do not have to be recognized is ENTIRELY constitutional. We can change the constitution to say what ever we want it to.
I much rather we didn't ammend it to outlaw gay-marriage.
