Pro-Choice
I do not believe that any material, superficial, or social reason creates a "safety-net" for abortion. Quite frankly, in every aspect of both, ethos appeal and logical appeal, abortion for these reasons is wrong. True, if a woman is raped, I believe that the abortion of a baby should be -allowed-. Notice that I did not say that it is right. Taking the life of a human--even if that human is unborn--is unethical. Do convicts not get sent to prison for murder? Is lethal injection not a consequence for cases of murder? Why then, is it 'socially acceptable' for a teen aged girl to slaughter her own child because she could not keep her hormones in control?
When you think about it, pregnancy is the reason there are birth control pills, condoms, and surgeries to stop the production of a baby. If one is no wise enough to use these, then they are not ready for the responsibilities of an adult. I have always viewed sex as a level of maturity, and one is not ready for sex, until they are completely mature. Sex is an act intended for procreation--any God-respecting monotheist will agree. Sex should not be solely for pleasure. It is the joining of two individuals in a promise of love. Lust should never be an issue, for mature adults can control their hormones; mature adults can control their emotions.
