You would actualy be amazed at how tolerant Islamic cultures are that don't percieve themselves to be under threat. When they think they are...like us after 911, they close ranks. Turkey, Syria, and Israel are huge melting pots but tolerance varies. While the Saudiis, Yemeniis, and Arabian Penninsula countries are not tolerant of anything. Iraq has Kurds, Shiite, and Sunnii. I think what makes the US special are the laws against discrimination on the basis of race and ethnicity.

You mentioned we accept people from all cultures and I was amazed last week where I saw a Muslim group saying that less than a handfull of anti Muslim incidents have occured in the US since 2001. That says a lot about us.
