Given how innovative the design of the WTC was for its day, I think the design was as good or better than we had a right to expect. The major flaw was the blown-on insulation on the steel beams. But to criticize that, you'd have to expect them to have anticipated a high-speed jet impact. Any other sort of fire, the insulation would have worked just fine.
