This is incredible news. Hopefully this will spill over into some more careful vetting of the next Republican ticket. We came dangerously close to her actually ending up being the president. Republicans now see that they were badly mistaken about that. With a bit of luck, that is an indication that the next Republican candidate will be drawn from the intellectual leadership of the conservative camp instead of just being picked for folksiness.

I'm a Democrat, but what I really want to see is not just the Democrats winning every election forever, it is to see the entire debate elevated to a higher level where both sides are presenting strong smart candidates with command of all the major issues. Distancing themselves from neocons and puppet politicians like Bush and Palin is absolutely step number one on that path. Bravo Republicans.
