To make people aware of their products. No amount of advertising can make you buy something you dont want.
I have absolutely no use for tampons. The greatest tampon commercial in the universe will not make me run out and buy tampons. You seem to be under the impression that ads are some kind of magic hypnosis.
Advertising makes you want the product…Wear these sneakers and you’ll jump higher, drink this beer because it’ll get you women, etc. I’m a graphic designer here in the city and that’s “exactly” what we do… and we’re darn good at it.

Advertising is very much like brainwashing. The same old stuff is floating out there… it’s my job to repackage it and tell the consumer why they need the new and improved such and such even though there may be only a slight difference.
