Default My Solution

This thread and a post hidden deep down under the heading of "Canada" on this forum are both right on the money. The drug war is a scam, based on lies and propaganda, created not to protect the health of American citizens, but to discriminate against unfavorable minorities. I see no reason to go into further detail about this as anyone can easily find all the info about this in a post under "Marijuania- is it really wrong?" under the "Canada" heading.

Here's my stance on the legalization of drugs:

Marijuania- Legalize it and tax the hell out of it. The government could be making a fortune off this lucrative product. Polls show that at least 1/3 of Americans already use the drug, so the government could stand to make billions off marijuania if it were legal. It is only as dangerous as smoking cigarettes and can even be eaten rather than smoked, making it much less harmful. As we all know by know, there seems to be some medicinal purposes for this drug as well. Of course, there are still many unanswered questions regarding the medicinal purposes, but legalization would allow for much more in depth research into the subject. Legalization of marijuania would also pave the way for a hemp industry in the US, a product that can be used to make clothing and rope as well as numerous other products, and acre for acre, produces 4 times more paper than wood.

LSD, MDMA, and other hallucinogens- keep them illegal. There effects are far too unpredictable for mass consumption, and few serious medicinal uses have ever been found (although many pyschiatrists have stated that LSD might be useful in treating schizophrenia and MDMA might help emotionally stubborn individuals speak more openly about their feeling during sessons).

Cocaine- keep it illegal. Enough said here, I think.

Heroin- I think Williams Burroughs' proposed solution to the heroin problem in the US is the best so far, except that it is far to politically incorrect for most Americans to stomach. His idea was for the government to hand it out freely to whoever wanted it. Let them waste away on their free high until they all die off and, *poof*, problem solved. Believe me, that's all heroin addicts really want anyway. [/u]
