Default While China should be considered a potential threat

I don't really believe it is economic. Yes, in the short term they are developing a large trade surplus with the U.S., probably taking jobs and creating demand for oil along with us. Yet they are doing it by undervaluing their currency, carrying billions of dollars in U.S. treasuries, destroying the environment, creating a huge gap between urban and rural areas, and on and on. They can't sustain this forever. Moreover, we are tied at the hip, whether we like or not. We need them to continue to carry our huge debt, and they need our consumers to buy their stuff.
