I say we strip the churches (for whatever religion) of any LEGAL marriage rights. They can hold their ceremonies in order to bless the couple, it's up to them if the they want to do this however. We cannot force change in religions by law, either the churches change themself or not at all. I am sure that evan gay couples can find some churches willing to wed them. I even saw an gay priest on the television a few days ago, and yes he lives with his boyfriend just as any married couple would do.

The legally binding marriage however should be solely in the registration of the couple with the authorities. This registration should be available for all couples regardless of gender combination, the couples gender combination should just not be a an issue. I don't evan see a reason for them to be pairs, Islam allow for four wifes for instance. I remember an Swedish aid worker that brought two wifes with him when he returned after working in Africa for several years. He divorced both of them rather then just one as the law required him to do. The three of them however continued to live together. People should not be forced to dodge the law with trickery like that.
