agree: as a Democrat, Lieberman has a perfect right to vote with the Democrats most of the time. Or ALL the time for that matter. But usually, he's a man of principle. He voted FOR Judge Roberts. And Alito is just as qualified as Roberts
None of the opposition to Alito is due to his judicial qualifications. Most reasonable Demoncrats are opposed to Alito because they fear that he will erode the balance of power between the presidency and the other parts of the government. That balance of power is what keeps the integrity of our system going over time just as the founding fathers set it up.
Nowhere in the Constitution does it say the SC must have a "balance of power." Nowhere does it say there must be the same number of Democrat appointees as Republican appointees. The very liberal Ruth Bader Gingsburg replaced a moderate on the court. And the Republicans voted unanimously for her. Too bad Democrats in the Senate are so partisan.

I fear that he like other and some on this board are so arrogant right now when their boys are in that are not thinking that historically the pendulum can swing back.
And I feel that the Democrats are being so partisan right now that they are not thinking that historically the pendulum can swing back and backfire on them. This WILL backfire on them.
