This is a tough one for me. I decided "a little more liberal."
My mom really isn't into politics but as a disabled woman, she tends to prefer Democrats because she's afraid Pubs might leave her to die in the streets. But she's a bit more conservative than me on a lot of social issues because she's Christian. Thankfully she's a Methodist, so she's not that much more conservative.
My dad claims to be conservative, but I think he's more of a libertarian. And as he gets older, he's reluctantly beginning to come to terms with some fiscally liberal things. But he'll always call himself a conservative.
Strangely my dad and I tend to be very much alike politically. We're both, in old-school terms, Jeffersonians as opposed to Hamiltonians. My dad is more okay with war and less compassionate than I am (or he acts like it), but he really hates Bush and strangely I don't, though the neocons p!$$ me off. My dad really liked Reagan and kind of liked Clinton but seems to despise anyone named Bush and can't stand Carter, believes in protectionism, is fairly indifferent toward war, despises safety nets other than social security, and hates religion. I have things I like and despise about all the above-mentioned presidents, don't believe in protectionism, hate war and don't accept it in cases where it is absolutely necessary (no, the war in Iraq is not such a case IMO), believe in reforming safety nets and better directing them toward those who truly need them, and have a love/hate relationship with religion.
Frankly, I'm just confused. Personally I think my dad likes the word conservative (because my grandma hates it) and I like the word liberal (because my father hates it).
My father also advocates much more than I do revolution. God, I love my dad!
