I suppose if I were to create an ideal political conception, it would be a global federalism of sorts, local governments with most control working from grassroots up, designing systems that work for their local concerns, moving on up to regional, national, and world governments with the purpose of keeping order and moderating conflict but otherwise staying out of the way. As far as the localized governments go, I favor libertarian thought. I think that once people are broken into tighter communities, people will put more effort into helping those that need help and building programs that work. Though I'd also allow free immigration so that dissenters and people who can't make it in their communities can go elsewhere to seek fortune or a sense of community. Hopefully we'd see a large variety of economic and social systems all created to reflect local interests. On another dimension, all communities would be interconnected, but that would be the focus of the higher level governments which would have to be accountable to the local governments. It should be from the roots up, not top down.
Don't ask how that can be done. But that's the idea. Too bad there are not yet any parties that even seem to want to do that. Pub-type parties claim to want more decentralized government but it is still top-down. Even states' rights seems to be about allowing states to decide how they will dictate to localities. As if people in a state have common interests or lifestyles.
People need to make the government. And the only way that can be done is through local concerns moderated by a few elected types who want to do all the math.
But as with everything else, war screws everything up. The world has a culture of violence and force shaped by our history. And it isn;t going to end until we as a global society decide to end it.
