This thread really ought to be in the religion forum. To me, the basic question of why God, if all-powerful, was unable to do something is best understood by a philosophical concept that would undoubtedly be rejected by many Christians but which is not un-Christian in any way: The identity of opposites. In other words, God is all-powerful yet infinitely dependent, God can do anything yet can do nothing and so forth. To claim that such descriptions of God must be false is to claim that God is limited to what human logic can understand.
