My beliefs are very orthodox
My beliefs are very orthodox, and summed up quite well by the Apostle's Creed. Denying the virgin birth is incompatible with orthodox Christian belief, and results in a theological entanglement that is irresolvable, relative to redemption.
Because Christ was born of the Spirit and not of the flesh, original sin had no hold on him. Had he been born of the flesh, he then would have been son of Adam, not the Son of God. Had he been a son of Adam, his death on the cross would be meaningless, and his resurrection from the grave impossible.
Christ is often referred to as the "Second Adam." In Christ, and through faith, we have become sons and daughters of God, rather than sons and daughters of Adam. Christ's death means that we also have died to the sin of Adam, and Christ's resurrection means we too have been made alive in Christ and the resurrection in the age to come.
Many evangelicals discount Christ's full humanity in fear that it somehow dilutes Christ’s full divinity. This is a mistake and it is also not the teaching of Scripture.
