I am personally turned off to anyone with the belief that non-beleivers are immoral and will go to Hell. I know plenty of good people who aren't necessarily religious. Likewise, I know many immoral people who claim to be religious. Religion is acceptable, but just like anything else it's divine meaning and rational is destroyed as you stray from the main-stream practices. Take for instance the Sunni bombing of the Askarya Shrine based solely on the want for secretarian mayhem. It was likely done by extreme Shias. This has resulted in a likely Sunni-Shia divviding line in the Middle East that may simply make political stability unrealistic and destroy the idea that democracy can take roots. Religion and politics need to be separate, especially in the Middle East.
