The best jobs often come by way of who you know, not what you know. The guy my husband just hired (though prior military) never gave much thought about working in the defense industry. He had no idea that he had anything to offer them. Through a mutual friend, my husband got his resume and gave him a telephone interview. They discovered that his computer skills dovetailed nicely with the kind of geek my husband was looking for. Voila! The guy gets a 15K a year raise and huge potential.

My point, Java is don't put limits your options. Don't fret too much about your first job. Your last job is what counts the most.
