And your research should tell you that this law has no chance of passing because its not your typical military draft. The Democrats proposed it as opposition to the war in Iraq and I believe, unless I'm mistaken, the law calls for children of high-ranking government officials and the wealthy ($250 thousand and above) to go first. The idea was to have them know what it's like to have a loved one being sent off to war.

Of course if there is a draft, I sure as hell hope that the wealthy aren't deferred just because their families have power.
