The UN is not solely the Security council, it has countless other facets.
I think that the United States should minimize its role in the political parts of the U.N. and focus almost solely on the organization's humanitarian efforts. The United States could do this by not trying to influence the U.N. on political matters, thus fully justifying not seeking its approval in foreign policy decisions.
