Default what's our band's name?

Hey guys - maybe y'all can help us out here.

Someone asked what the name of the band is - well, we need a new one.

We're in a "new incarnation" now. We just got this really hot chick singer, I mean, this woman is really spectacular. She knows how to work a crowd too.

So, in the past, we've had a couple of different "monickers", we've gone on as Jumpin' Bones, and the Mighty (Loud) Shakers, and all kinds of other stuff, but I think we might want to "re-invent" ourselves for this particular gig.

So, I'm thinkin', like, "south-west motorcycle motif", right? Something like that? Harleys, Hell's Angels (but only the cool parts), Easy Rider, mm.... what else comes to mind? "Easy Rider" might be a good one, does anyone know if that name's already taken?

But, like, does anything leap out at you guys? For a kind of classic-rockin' thing focused mostly in 60's music like Steppenwolf and so on, with an occasional "modern" piece thrown in for context?

Ideally it would be something with a "logo", you know, a little "symbol" or something, but it would have to be something, you know, "simple and visible", like, I dunno.... if you were the "Red Hot Chili Peppers", a little chili pepper - or something like that, right?

So, any thoughts?

If you come up with the winning name, you'll get credits on our upcoming CD, which'll be out by January 1st, so "you can see your name in print" on this one - and I mean, I'm totally serious, if you come with "the one", I'll see to it that you even get royalties - you know, "as per contract" and all that good stuff. So.... maybe we can do a little contest..... yes?

Democrats will never willingly allow such a thing to occur as it would not only fragment severly their hold on the West Coast Electoral Votes but also New York and other places they rely on.
Such a system would be of much more benefit to Republicans and potential Third Parties. Oh there's Texas and Florida where it may benefit Democrat but for the most part it wouldn't.

Leave it alone.
The Electoral College system works fine and is what it is because of the every nature of your country. Monkey with it at your peril.
It would have probably been a benefit to Democrats in 2000. The Democrats have advantages because of the two biggest states going Democratic but the Republicans have an advantage in that very small states get more votes than they would if they were strictly divided out by population.

Nonsqtr, keep on digging for a new name, I don't like any of those that you left for us to decide on. Flashing Thunder or Black Thunder sound good to me if you are a noisy band and I like any name with thunder in it, even the name, Roland Thunder. Hell one guy mixed Marilyn Monroe and Charles Mansion together and went by Marilyn Manson and I thought I was going to see a female singer. One person told me they liked Nine Inch Nails and I thought what in the hell do you want gnarly nine inch fingernails for that will cake up with dirt and handicap you from doing anything properly. Pounding Rain sound good also but the name should fit the band somewhat. If it is a rap group then it should be called the Beetch Group because that is what rap sound like, a couple of guys beetching and some even sound like an auctioneer on crack to me.

Also Nonsqtr you use the word Horse Feathers alot so why not that for a name? Horse feathers are as real as oysters that come off of a mountain.

Default My thoughts .. ...

My 1st thought was Altamont Speedway but that's prolly too risky. Some people (not me) look at that event as an experiment that went bad and others see it as the dark side of the hippy movement (HUH ???) and then there is the death thingy ... and of course, there are those that don't even know what I'm talking about.

Back to the drawing board.

When I hear Horse Feathers, I think of the Groucho Marx movie (Professor Quincy Adam Wagstaff)

Here, here!!!!
I believe the smiley face from Rebellion was used to admit that she was being hypocritical. You can't seriously believe it is fair to split the votes in large states that vote Democrat but not in large Republican states. Can you? That would be a stretch even by your standards.
Yes I meant the first sentence tongue in cheek. I support letting individual states do as they please. If they want to split that's fine, if they want all to one delegate that's fine too. If small states want to give up their power that's up to them.

By the mid-19th century unique had developed a wider meaning, “not typical, unusual,” and it is in this wider sense that it is compared. The comparison of so-called absolutes in senses that are not absolute is standard in all varieties of speech and writing.

Default I would rather break up California

California has gotten too big for its bridges. Socialists abound here and I find myself in occupied territory. If only we cut out the SF bay area and LA from our territory and make them states of there own. I think things will swing back eventually though so it really isn't nessasary. The democrats are still selling socialism which is a proven failure throughout the world. As our populace becomes better educated, they will naturally reject the dems phylosophies. Freedom will win the day and the people will eventually downsize the federal government and restrict its powers over them. I don't think we should break up our electoral votes, at least not without revamping our entire election system nationwide to fit the needs of today. We need to remain a republic as opposed to a democracy. As for this election in November, unless John McCain is within single digits here in occupied California, I plan to write in Ann Coulter for president as a protest for us conservatives who don't have a candidate.
