So what is your verdict on Tom DeLay???

In another thread you, JP5, asked any Dem to name dems they thought should be removed from office. I have now named 5. What is your stance on Tom DeLay?
My stance on Tom Delay has been discussed many times before on here. I think he has been the target of a partisan, rogue D.A. witch hunt. Right after the Texas redistricting, the Dems in Texas vowed to "get Delay" and that's exactly what they proceeded to try and do. All they needed was an indictment....to get him out of his leadership position....based on the Republicans OWN rule that an indicted leader must step down from any leadership role. A rule Dem leadership refused to put in place for themselves and their elected officials.

I've kept close tabs on the details of the case and see no wrong doing by Tom Delay as of yet. And I think I would have seen it by now....IF it existed.

But as far as which Republican I do think deserved to be removed from office: Duke Cunningham. I said on this very board....when the details of what he was accused of first surfaced that his home deal... sounded to me like a tax-avoidance scheme. I said it before almost anyone else......because I was using my CPA background. In other words, it really sounded as if something ILLEGAL had occurred. And I have no problem saying a Republican should be removed from office IF I believe they did something illegal.

Not so with Tom Delay.
