When one says American...one thinks of the American culture. The term ethnocentric is rather complicated and doesn't necesarilly have an ethnic conotation as much as it does a cultural conotation. The word ethnocentric in the US is generally used to describe whites or Europeans in the US.

Anyways, if you prefer the term nationalistic then go ahead and substitutate that in. Now you can try and explain what economic theory has to do with the subject of this thread.
