Yes indeed. There's a lot of us in the middle here. In the other thread, I replied to rota's comment that he seemed to find it difficult to "identify" with either of the parties, and it seems to me that I'm hearing enough of that kind of thing, in places like this forum and others, that we centrists could make a pretty significant political impact if we were able to somehow coalesce and focus our political efforts.
I mean, I'm kinda sick and tired of being limited by the "two" choices that the major parties want to foist on me. If this next presidential election comes down to Hillary vs. McCain, I'm going to gag, that'll be enough to make me choke up what little of my dinner I can still keep down (politically speaking). Both of them are political weasels, they want to make us believe that they're "centrists", but the only reason for that is the pollsters who are saying that a lof of America is leaning that way at the moment. If the polls were to indicate differently, you can be sure that they'd shift accordingly.
It seems to me, that a truly "centrist" party, with an emphasis on practical matter rather than ideology, could be an enormous political force in today's world. But that means, that people like you and me, need to get off our duffs and make it happen. Otherwise, we're going to be stuck with the same old choices next time around, which boils down to the lesser of two evils, and a middle ground that continues to grow vanishingly smaller with every passing year.
Just a thought....
