Permits imposed by the government are unconstitutional IMO. Restrictions on firearms to the citizens of the free and sovereign states are unconstitutional IMO.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

It's quite clear, the right to keep and bear arms is not to be infringed upon. A right, which is innate and inalienable, is something which is a part of me and something at which I may engage in at my discretion. Permits required by the government infringe upon this right in a very important manner. A permit means I must ask permission to do something. If I must ask permission, I do not have a right but a privilege granted by the state and able to be taken away at any time the state feels the urge. The right to keep and bear arms is just that, an innate and inalienable right. As such, the state does not have the rightful power to force me to ask its permission to exercise a right.
