Here is your quote from the Old Testament with a couple of extra verses before it to give context. This is a case where Amalek had attacked the Israelites on their way out of Egypt. They had targeted the old and sick. Here they meet again on a battlefield where Israel is commanded to eliminate this ONE tribe.

Exodus - 17:13
"Exd 17:8 ¶ Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
Exd 17:9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
Exd 17:10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
Exd 17:11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
Exd 17:12 But Moses' hands [were] heavy; and they took a stone, and put [it] under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
Exd 17:13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
Exd 17:14 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this [for] a memorial in a book, and rehearse [it] in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

5:33-“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution (by beheading), or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;”

8:12- “I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off.”

47:4- “Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), strike off their heads; at length; then when you have made wide Slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives”: thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens.”

5: 45-- “We ordained therein for them: “Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear. Tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal.”

2:193- “Fight them on until there is no more tumult and religion becomes that of Allah”

9:29- "Fight those who do not believe in God and the last day... and fight People of the Book, (Christian and Jews) who do not accept the religion of truth (Islam) until they pay tribute (Zizziya tax) by hand, being inferior.”


How can you even compare the two ?!!! I understand that there are very nice Muslems who do not follow these verses, and that would be most Muslems. However, it is not hard to see why Islam today is implemented. All religions are NOT the same. Islam is this violent because nothing is created in a vacuum and Muhamed was a caravan robber turned warlord. His religion was forced upon Arabia by the sword. He slaughtered all 3 Jewish tribes of Arabia and plenty of others. He was a man of the sword who preached his own beliefs in the name of God. So I think that you are quite naive when saying that you can cherrypick any religion. Although this is true to some degree, it is clear that Islam is more prone to acts of violence towards all that do not follow the teaching of Muhamed .. and that is exactly the reputation it has earned.
