Another twist to the issue of more equitable taxes
As we all know, the vast majority of the taxes are paid by the wealthiest Americans. In fact, something like 75 or 80% of Americans either pay no taxes or pay less than they incurr in government benefits. So most Americans are getting either a full or partial free ride in terms of government services.
Now lets ask ourselves if there could possibly be any link between voter apathy and the fact that most voters do not feel the pain of government waste and corruption. Do you think more voters would care more about the decisions our politicans make if they were paying for their pro-rate share of government expenses incurred?
Until you can tap into people's self-interest by linking government waste to thier own pain, you will never have meaningful reform.
Inefficient government beaurocracies and huge government giveaways by both liberals and conservatives will never get the attention they deserve until a little more of that money is comming out of the average guy's pocket.
