I can't believe anyone would try to spin this as anything less than a huge win for the Republicans. Bush has said many times that we do not torture. He asked for clarification because of the vagueness of article 3. I know the Democrats would have liked very much to put this off until after the elections, poor things. They have continually tried to paint the president as torture happy. Now that he is aligned with McCain, that just won't work. AND, the Republicans will put forth legislation that the Democrats will be forced to vote on BEFORE the election. The Democrats problem is that they started out with the lie that Bush wanted torture authorized.
