Bush is no fiscal conservative....
and thats why I do not support him. Still, a fiscal conservative is more than just keeping the budget balanced. A true fiscal conservative is someone who also strives for a more efficient and accountable government. Its not just a matter of spending no more than you have. Its also about using what you have more wisely.
Also, there are more than 4 conservatives left in Congress. I know there were at least 55 fiscally conservative Republicans in the house who were at the point of open rebellion with Bush over the Medicare Reform Bill. Hassert left the vote open on the floor till 4 or 5 in the morning and he and Bush spent the night calling people to twist arms and make deals to finally get it passed.
Seriously, the Republican party is a divided tent now. The social conservatives vs the fiscal conservatives. If the Democrats where smart, they would investigate to find the fault lines in the Republican party and exploit it. Seriosuly. The fiscally conservative branch of the Republican party is dissatisfied and Kerry's camp needs to do all they can to encourage low voter turnout in this part of Bush's base. Just my 2 cents.
