Another misguided attempt by collectivist statists to raise taxes. Reminds me of the time Democrats put a huge tax on yachts and it put all the middle class workers who were building the yachts out of work.

I'm not saying we shouldn't try to go to alternative fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. I'm just saying that raising taxes is not the way to do it.

We could have already had plenty of electric cars in this country if the government didn't collude with oil companies to stop them.

The facts are, alt-fuels are not here yet. They won't be for years. They need to do things NOW. They need to drill in ANWAR. They need to harvest the oil shale in Arizona (or is it New Mexico?).

AND fund for alt-fuels. Quit with this "either/or" nonsense.

Real smart to blame the failing of an entire economy on 1 single tax. It is a fundamental and intrinsic function of governments with capitalist economies to tax or regulate actions with negative externalities. Pollution is a classic example.

Economic facts are economic facts. Tax increases do not bring prosperity - they destroy prosperity.

Claiming something is a fact doesn't do much to support your argument. There is not a shred of evidence that this one singular tax has destroyed Denmark's manufacturing.

The claim was never that it "destroyed" Denmark's manufacturing. Only that it hurt it. But if they raised taxes even more, they could certainly destroy it.

Again, taxes do not bring prosperity.
