Pete King is one of those anomalies that should be telling in this election.

That particular seat, is definitely a must-learn for political analysts.

Pete King has been outspoken, he was (for instance) one of the Repubs who raked the Prez over the coals on that ports deal, and he's been a strong and upstanding citizen on behalf of the "traditional" Repub viewpoint.

I don't necessarily agree with everything he has to say, but I do admire his political courage. His stance has cost him some political money, that's for sure, but he stands up for what he believes in, and he doesn't mince words.

That kind of thing, I admire.

On the other hand, I don't admire the current administration, and their effort to twist around vocabulary and numbers so they can stay in power.

Pete King is basically a good guy. That's just a "gestalt", and I probably don't know enough to get more specific than that.

However, it seems to me, that we need more people like Pete, on both sides of the aisle. People who don't question what the word "is" means, and people who recognize that waterboarding is the same as dunking.

Pete strikes me as a no-nonsense guy, and granted he plays politics (they all do), but when the pedal hits the metal, I'd trust Pete to cover my backside in a heartbeat, and unfortunately I can't say the same for our current Bonehead-In-Chief.

I'd like to see some spine from the Dems at this point - "some" of them, have shown that, to a limited extent, but not quite like Pete does. His ideals haven't wavered "much" over the years - and he's not exactly a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon, but he knows what he believes in.

There are a "few" Dems like that - maybe Carl Levin, maybe Reed, people like that - they're more "studious" perhaps, than Pete King is, and that's all good, as long as they don't get mired into the muck of K Street.

As you can tell, I'm really fed up with the politics in Weaselton. Some of that is a necessary evil, but some of it goes way beyond what's needed.

It seems to me, that We the People really need to focus in on "capability" right now. These ideological idiots like Bushie can't play in that arena - that much is painfully clear by now. It doesn't help if you talk a good game and then can't perform.

And the "perform" part - should be taken out of K Street, and put down on Front Street - know what I mean? This power-mongering BS has got to stop.

A guy like Pete, maybe he has some good ideas - and they deserve to be heard, and aired, and debated. Pete's getting some airplay right now, mainly because he happens to be in an important spot that's aligned with the Party in power.

The sad part is, that there are a dozen guys like him, that you've never heard of. The "quiet" types - that don't really care about personal aggrandizement, but have perhaps been called upon to play important roles in the Congress.

I forget who said it, but "those who are best qualified are the ones who don't want the job".....
