In the lobby of the Taylor County courthouse they have a of 800 local WW II veterans into two lists, marked in large type: “Whites” and “Colored.”
Some 'activists" want the sign taken down. They have added an “integrated” list since but still left the white/colored lists and say that it is for "historical" purposes.
Sybil Willingham, chairwoman of the county’s Historic Preservation Commission says “If we erase everything we find offensive or don’t like, then it may happen again,” . Sybil also said "unlawful for people to “mutilate, deface, defile, or abuse” public monuments honoring servicemembers.
"activists" want the segragated list moved to a museum.
What do you guys thimk ? I think that segragated lists though historic actually mutilate, deface, defile, or abuse” public monuments honoring servicemembers unless such lists are in museums or areas designated as historic.
