Like many of us "cowards" have said, we'd be willing to fight if our freedoms were actually in jeopardy. Every person I know would grab a gun and stop the Chinese if they invaded the West Coast.
Since WW2, we've been involved in wars about economics more than any thing. The government just wraps them in rhetoric about freedom, liberty, and democracy to make us feel better about them.
I'm only going to fight if my freedoms are in jeopardy. I can't think of any war since WW2 in which our freedoms were really at stake. Go ahead and fight in a war for economics if you want.
I'm a staunch isolationist and was against our actions in Vietnam, Bosnia, and Iraq. The latter is a war about securing oil, so if you want to die for that, be my guest. I live on 10 acres and can grow my own food when oil reaches $100 a barrel, so I couldn't really give a (*)(*)(*)(*). Saddam posed no threats to my liberties.
