Default New to the forum

I have double-posted this (sorry Mods) just because I realised after browsing that you guys have a bit of a problem with spam and I think my `Hi there' subject line in my original thread might make me look like one of those poor lonely freaks who has nothing better to do with their lives.

So, hello all. For some time I've been thinking about joining a political forum. I am on a couple of other forums and find it a really stimulating and informative way to meet new people and have great conversations about all and sundry.

I am keenly interested in becoming more educated and informed politically - compared to my friends I am very informed, compared to my fiance and family I know a drop in a bucket.

A bit about me to start with, I am Australian and still live in Australia. My political leanings are to the left with very slightly conservative views on some issues. I detest our revolting prime minister and hope that he gets buried under a landslide Labor win at the next election, not that at the moment there is a particularly outstanding alternative but anything's better than that closet Nazi.

For a living I work in medicine and I am also studying to become an animal behaviourist specialising in cynology (dogs). I have LOTS of things to say about animal rights and welfare but I'm not exactly a tree-hugging hippy

Anyway, enough about me. I look forward to getting to know you better and participating in some hot debates.

Ta ta for now.
