Some causes are worth getting involved in. Some aren't. And it doesn't always require the 82nd Airborne. Was Saddam a bad person? Yep. Was he more of a threat to the United States of America than half a dozen other countries? Nope. Not IMO. And if it's the mission of the neocons to stick their noses in every conflict around the world, why aren't you people more upset about the situation in Darfur... Peru... Colombia? The point is, the neocons had such a h/o for going into Iraq that we're now in a corner with regards to Iran and North Korea. After Dumbo's yer ither wid us or agin us foolishness, we'd do well to get a troop of foreign boyscouts to back us against these REAL threats. And meanwhile, I say, MEANWHILE... where is Osama? Huh?! Where is Osama?!

This would be the group we'd send in to mop up any "objectionable" foreign powers. Gender would not matter. Age wouldn't matter. Physical condition wouldn't matter. Mental stability wouldn't matter.

How so? It would be a volunteer force. And being that I wouldn't volunteer for a foolish cause that doesn't concern me, my only trouble would be deciding on what to have for dinner. But you kids have fun without me.

If nothing else, one thing I hope we've learned (this time) is that if you want to go in with guns blazing, you need a plan that extends past the V-Day celebration.

I had ancestors on both sides of that war. But being that the "home team" won, I wouldn't change anything that Lee did. I also would NOT suggest to Stonewall Jackson that he shouldn't ride his horse after dark. Smooth move, Stonie. But hey, I didn't tell Duhbya to fly that Mission Accomplished banner. They have medication these days for premature reactions. Maybe he should try a pill or three.

But one of my main questions: at what point does our government decide that it should take from the people it represents, to give to those it does not represent? It may seem like a cold question, but it is one which (IMO) MUST be answered before another feel good, multi-billion dollar crusade is begun. Forced redistribution of wealth is forced redistribution of wealth, no matter how you try to spin it. I generally do not agree with this scheme. And that's another reason I oppose fiscally liberal, nation building neoconservatism, as this relates it to its Trotskyite roots.

You better go back and check my posts from the first day I came on this site. One of the reasons I voted for Bush (the first time around) was because he said he would NOT engage in nation building. He said he would NOT devote this nation's resources to nation building. He used the attacks of 9/11 to go on that very mission. He proved himself to be a liar in my eyes. Neocons, liberals, commies, fascists and all the rest... they can vote for all manner of wealth and democracy redistribution schemes. But you won't have to wait until AFTER the vote for me to disagree with it. I'm sorry that so many have had to die in Bush's failing crusade in the sand. But even if it had worked out, I GENERALLY do not believe in nation building with U.S. taxpayer funds and American lives. That is not the same as isolationism. But most neocons seem too simple minded and thick to understand the difference. Put simply... Iraq dumb/bad... Afghanistan smart/good.

If I can help others, I help them. I think our nation should do the same. But in no case do I believe we should borrow (yes, we're basically borrowing money from the Chinese to throw away in Iraq!!! ), while depriving our own, to get involved in matters that are not our business. But that's why the logo for my crack force of crazy brave, armchair neocon warriors will be the nose buried in the buttocks: Everybody else's business is our business. Hoo ha!

That first rowboat leaves for Iraq on the morning of Febrary 30th ( ). Be there or be square.
