anyone remmember crime falling RAPIDLY in the early 90's?
well id hate to be a killjoy if you thought it were do to America's impressive police forces.
but I will anyways.
heres the thesis- crime dropped directly due to the legalization of abortion from the roe vs. wade trial.
I'm going to qoute the author/economist Steven Levitt on his book "Freakonomics"

In the early days of the nation, it was permissible to have an abortion prior to “quickening"—that is, when the first movements of the fetus could be felt, usually around the sixteenth to eighteenth week of pregnancy. In 1828, New York became the first state to restrict abortion; by 1900 it had been made illegal throughout the country. Abortion in the twentieth century was often dangerous and usually expensive. Fewer poor women, therefore, had abortions. They also had less access to birth control. What they did have, accordingly, was a lot more babies.
In the late 1960s, several states began to allow abortion under extreme circumstances: rape, incest, or danger to the mother. By 1970 five states had
made abortion entirely legal and broadly available: New York, California, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. The majority opinion, written by Justice Harry Blackmun, spoke specifically to the would-be mother’s predicament:
The detriment that the State would impose upon the pregnant woman by denying this choice altogether is apparent…. Maternity, or additional offspring, may force upon the woman a distressful life and future. Psychological harm may be imminent. Mental and physical health may be taxed by child care. There is also the distress, for all concerned, associated with the unwanted child, and there is the problem of bringing a child into a family already unable, psychologically and otherwise, to care for it.

In other words, the very factors that drove millions of American women to have an abortion also seemed to predict that their children, had they been born, would have led unhappy and possibly criminal lives.

I'm not going to lie, I'm 17, and I'm sporting male genitals. and unless you were embedded with the idea that celibacy is essential to survival by insane parents, sex is inevitable. and of all the things I fear the most is throwing my best years away raising a kid, or working my arse off to pay child support. And before reading this book I was very "pro-life." But in no way am I religious, I believe in karma to an extent tho. But I also believe that we, as citizens, should put aside our personal moral beliefs for the safety and betterment of the majority of people. and if aborting a fetus is bad karma, then so be it, but id rather a community be safe(er) from crime then how it would be if there were tons of
Bastard children running around causing all sorts of hell.
We have a civic duty to keep the safety and prosperity of our country first in our minds at all time.
Patriotism is NOT about going to church, beating up people who burn flags, or swearing to kill every one who opposes a capitalistic democracy -not at all- its about the quality of life of its citizens and swearing to keep it at a high standard.
