Quote:
Nixon a paleoconservative????
Did I stutter?

In what way WASNT he a Paleocon?

Quote:
Nixon was from the old wave of "moderate" republicans.
"Moderate" and "Paleocon" are not mutually exclusive terms. Pat Buchanan is a moderate paleocon.

Quote:
He started the EPA. He was the author modern anti-white discrimination with the Philadelphia Plan. He issued wage and price controls. He famously said "We're all Keynsians now." There's nothing about him that was conservative.
Well, pretty much everyone else disagrees.

Quote:
Fifth, diplomatic engagement (as Nixon did with China) is one of the few foreign involvements that Conservatives support.
Paleocons maybe. No neocon would have ever supported holding hands with a commie nation the way Nixon did with China.

Quote:
For God's sake, if you can't talk to someone to resolve differences how can you ever get to know each other.
I am not interested in getting to know someone I consider evil. I am only interested in assimilating them or destroying them.

We should not be talking to those people. It makes us a party to their oppression.

Quote:
Sixth, no one ever uses the term paleoconservative, other than in a pejorative sense.
I do. It is descriptive of what they are. It is only an insult if you dont like the description.

Neocon is often used as an insult, but it doesnt bother me when people call me a neocon. My views ARE neoconservative...so why shouldnt they call me that?

As far as I know Pat Buchanan doesnt have a problem being called a paleocon.

Quote:
It has no well defined or even commonly accepted definition.
Yeah it does. Here is are two definitions for you:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleoconservatism
http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Paleoconservatism

Their definition seems parallel to mine for the most part.

Quote:
I suggest you use the term conservative when talking about people such as Eisenhower, and ultra-conservative when speaking about the likes of Pat Buchanan or Barry Goldwater.
Compromising with communists does not seem ultraconservative to me. Sorry.
