I was just shooting at the number ...

I like shredding factless stuff ... and that one was too easy!

Quote:
Prior to the Iraqi invasion the support for a US invasion amongst ordinary iraqi citizens was less than 10% (about 8.3%).
How did you determine that? What is your source for that figure?

Quote:
It is now half that amount at around 4%.
Do you have a source for that too?

A lady from the cafeteria asked me a question:

Why are we going to other country to kill and bomb, and then to help them to REBUILD? It just don't make any sense.

The cafeteria lady is looking at it from a very simplistic angle. She needs to educate herself.

Sometimes when things are getting too complicated, it is better to start from a more simple perspective view.

I am with her, it just don't make any sense.

My nephew is one of those who was wounded in action. He was knocked unconscious by an IED explosion that killed some of his Marine buddies.

More recently, he's developed a detached retina as a result of that explosion.

He's been on inactive reserves for two years after having served five years active duty, including two tours of duty in Iraq.

Guess what. He's been ordered back to active duty. I'm hoping the eye problem will keep him out of combat. He will need surgery to repair that RD.

This is not one of those times.

The Cafeteria lady is assuming that the totalitarian government that was in place before we bombed is the same as the democratic government that is in place now. That is obviously wrong. That is why her simplistic view is inaccurate.

Maybe you two can educate yourselves together. It does make sense to support a democratic government. The same way it makes sense to oppose a non-democratic government.

OMG! I'm SO SORRY to hear this. It's just another story is a long line of similar stories.

Thanks to your nephew for his service. I'm going to pray he doesn't have to go back.

They volunteered to protect freedom, the died for less practical reasons.

Thanks for your prayers. He sees the ophthalmologist on Wednesday. He appreciates all the thanks he gets for his service, but feels he's done enough for his country and would just as soon let someone else assume the burden from now on.
