I am happy to sacrifice my personal freedoms if it benefits my nation and only those that believe the cause is in the interest of the community they belong to will sacrifice everything to defend it.

The government should put the nation that elected it before everything else as that is its main purpose and the power given is not owned by the leaders but is borrowed from the people. Giving away those powers that are borrowed from the people to lets say a foreign state is nothing less than treason and Britain’s handing over of control to the EU against the will of the people is a huge crime in my opinion.

I have given away many of my freedoms just by giving support to a national party and in Britain I would not be able to join the Police, Unions, Media, Armed forces and any government job. The chances are if anyone openly showed there support they would be discriminated against.

Teachers banned from showing support:

Bus driver dismissal:

The normal excuse is the BNP and other nationalist parties don’t support racial equality but then again everyone knows the current British government encourages discrimination on grounds of race and sex: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle4217376.ece

I think my sacrifice against the liberal elite is well justified even though it will likely effect the rest of my life as I am only young. It is important to stand up for what you believe but I only talk politics with those that want to here it and I would not deliberately cause conflict in my community.

When you don't talk about your spouse, or significant other at work, when you show absolutely no affection to your loved ones in public, when you stop parading the results of your sex life in public, your children, then you will have sacrificed what you are asking others to do.

I never said don’t talk about your partner in public and individual freedoms are important but don’t push the limits too far.

Personally I think breast feeding in a public place is going too far and I think it is a shame that the British government plans to prevent people from complaining and making it acceptable in any public place.

In the contents of the Bible it is clear you should not change the faith and interpretation should be made in the best way possible. Marriage according to the Bible is between a man and a woman so as a Christian it should remain that way. All of the close followers of Jesus were male so leaders of the Church should probably be male as it is likely a deliberate selection by Jesus.

It is only due to the fact of the large Christian and religious influence that has caused fever reflection into society including sexual discrimination, homophobic views and the views of what is and not morally correct. Holding on to a culture incorporated into the bible has given many benefits but has also hindered the independent evolution of nations and over the years the interpretation has changed resulting in many ways of following the same faith.

I think the following is a good guide but almost all rules are broken on a daily basis so worrying about homosexuality in the contexts of the bible is rather silly.

1. "I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me..."
2. "Do not make an image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above..."
3. "Do not swear falsely by the name of the LORD..."
4. "Remember [zachor] the Sabbath day and keep it holy" (the version in Deuteronomy reads shamor, "observe")
5. "Honor your father and your mother..."
6. "Do not murder"
7. "Do not commit adultery."
8. "Do not steal."
9. "Do not bear false witness against your neighbor"
10. "Do not covet your neighbor's wife"

Commandments 5 to 10 is all about a strong community and respect for others so is still important to everyone even if they have no faith.

Well, actually you said:
Quote:
I don’t have a problem with homosexuals and individual freedoms but it should not damage the society that individuals are part of. What goes on behind closed doors can and should remain private, community values and common links within that society should be promoted not the difference that fractures it.
Just how far should gay people hide who they are? If you see two guys holding hands walking down the street, is that too much? Should that stay behind closed doors?

Now, if you see a guy and a girl holding hands walking down the street, is that too much? Should that stay behind closed doors?

The Bible is an ancient text that people pick and choose, and ignore the stuff they don't want to follow. As a guide for life, it has been long outdated, full of horrible rules and laws.

Or, do you think a woman should never have authority over men?

Is it a shame for a man to have long hair?

Should women be banned from braiding their hair, or wearing gold?

Should women remain silent in church?

Should slaves be subservient to their masters?

The above is just the tip of the iceberg.

It's time to stop using the Bible as an excuse for discriminating against others.

Who cares what the Bible says?

I don't, but apparently a lot of people use it as a rulebook.
