You're right about that. An excellent book on the subject is "The Thousand Year War" by Richard Maybury:

But the issue is really our intervention against them, not vice versa, although there have been attacks on both sides. But we could be at peace with the majority of Muslims if we would stay out of their territory and their business. A long list of American involvement in Muslim countries can be seen here:

Anyhow, I find it unbelievable that people actually think this is a Government conspiracy to wage war against these people by fooling the public to support it using the Towers as their catalyst. Oh, really. I guess we can forget about the Muslims who tried to blow up the very same buildings in 1993. This was done by the same people with the same mind-set and the same agenda. The reason why the US (all too aware of these people and their intentions) didn't go to war then was because A. they were unsuccessful and B. Bill Clinton was a Coward who cared more about his haircut.

Why do you think it's unbelievable considering that false flag terror attacks have happened in the past? Why do you consider it unbelievable when plans were drawn up by the U.S. government to kill innocent American citizens for the purpose of building support for a war with Cuba?
It was called Operation Northwoods and the evidence that it existed is irrefutable:

From the National Archives:

"We could blow up a ship and blame Cuba." - quote from Northwoods
Having said that, do I think the government was directly behind the attack? No. However, I think it's highly likely the government knew we were going to get hit and sat back and let it happen. The way NORAD practically stood down speaks volumes to this. There are a lot of things that just don't add up. Yes, Bin Laden wanted to hit us, there's no doubt about that. But, still, a lot of things just don't add up. I think the government isn't coming clean with all it knows. And, again, it's only rational to question them since they did once plan terrorist attacks on American citizens.

9/11 was completely different because this was a civilian attack. Not only was it a civilian attack but it leveled a quarter of the most celebrated area of the most celebrated city in the united states, miserable sad deaths and all. It hit us right at our shore, right where the biggest battle in the Revolutionary war was commanded. A cornerstone part of the beginning of this country. It was a cowardice cataclysmic atrocity on an abominably baffling scale and is infamously known as the worst day in American History.

Again, read that link above entitled "Why do they hate us?" The United States is not blameless in all of this. There is a reason we were attacked.

It didn't and I fear if we are fooled to end The War on Terror, Historians in the future will write that this was the beginning of the end of the United States.

If we don't return to our roots and go back to the original intent of the Constitution, including the original foreign policy of non-interventionism, THAT will be the end of the United States. None of the Middle East nation states WANTS a war with us. Why? Because they know we have enough nuclear weapons to incinerate every square inch of their country(ies). Our weakness is our economy - high tax rates, worthless fiat currency backed by nothing, and massive government intervention including unfunded liabilities to a gigantic welfare state. We cannot afford to fund an unending guerilla war in multiple countries. Believe me, they know this, and they want to drag us along for as long as possible.
The way to win is to leave and declare neutrality and stay out of the region.
